Copyright issues are, unfortunately, often ignored or misunderstood.
The UK Copyright,
Design and Patents act (1988) is in place to
protect the rights of all artists.
The
copyright of all Coll Digital artwork (photographs,
digital illustrations, web design, compuer code etc..) remains with Tony
Oliver and copyright is only passed onto a client
following specific negotiation and the issue of
a licence stating this to be the case. The default
situation is that copyright remains with Tony Oliver of Coll Digital.
A licence is
always issued to the client stating how the artwork
may be used. In circumstances where a special commission
has been undertaken, a Single
User Licence is often issued. This
gives the client a degree of exclusivity.
Any
infringement of Coll Digital/Tony Oliver copyright will be
followed by polite discussions and then the issue of an invoice and, should
it be necessary, legal action to recover costs,
as outlined in the act.
